Portulans Institute (PI) an independent nonprofit, nonpartisan research and educational institute based in Washington, DC, has joined the Datasphere Initiative as an in-kind partner.

Data governance is crucial for equitable and development focus digital transformation and innovation. Portulans is an internationally recognized think-tank that works with governments, corporate and academic partners, and international organizations, leading those transformations. We are pleased to welcome them to the Datasphere Initiative’s global network,” said Carolina Rossini, Co-founder and Director for Policy and Research, at the Datasphere Initiative.
The Datasphere Initiative and Portulans Institute plan to further link the narratives around innovation, digital transformation, and data governance policies and models that allow for equity distribution and well-being for all, with the goal to catalyze human-centric technical, policy, and institutional innovations. Portulans Institute has extensive experience in creating indexes – such as the Global Innovation Index and the Network Readiness Index – which serve as core roadmaps for policy change.
This partnership will foster collaboration between the two organizations as they work to drive new and innovative ways to manage data responsibly and ensure data governance is at the core of the discussions on innovation policy.
