Boston University (BU), in partnership with New America’s PIT program, hosted the annual Public Interest Technology University Network (PIT-UN) Convening 2023 on October 12-13, 2023 at the Center for Computing & Data Sciences. The event also counted with a special Student Track and an event on Algorithm Fairness and data governance. The event was live transmitted via this site.
Organized around the theme of Partnership for Impact, the 2023 Convening explored how universities can partner with government, companies, universities, and community organizations to foster public interest technology and address modern challenges. Topics such as data privacy, equitable design, cybersecurity, ethics in AI, public infrastructure, and green technologies were discussed.

Carolina Rossini, Director of Policy and Research at the Datasphere Initiative, and faculty at Boston University, was part of the organizing committee of the event, which expects over 300 people in person and hundreds online. She was MCing and speaking at the event.
