On the occasion of the United Nations Science Summit, the Datasphere Initiative is organizing a session on what is next for data governance beyond the Global Digital Compact (GDC). Participants will discuss what the GDC points to in terms of global coordination on data and what breakthroughs for data governance can be anticipated beyond its launch. In this online roundtable, participants will be invited to share ideas on international coordination on data, including proposals such as an International Decade on Data and a Data-20 in the context of the G20. The session aims to identify how a mission-driven process and vision for international data cooperation could simulate international investment, bridge capacity gaps, leverage specialist expertise in the private sector, and reduce barriers to data sharing.
