A collaborative group, including the Datasphere Initiative, the Global Shapers Medellín Hub, the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS-Next Einstein Forum), Chaski Global, and the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data (GPSDD), is organizing a workshop on the occasion of the 2024 UN World Data Forum (UNWDF).
Titled “Leveraging Global South Youth’s Vision for an Equitable and Sustainable Data Future”, this interactive workshop will be led by young people and aims to engage attendees in the #Youth4OurDataFuture project, part of the Datasphere Initiative. This project focuses on raising awareness and creating learning campaigns that highlight youth voices and experiences regarding the impact of data on their lives.
The session will include hands-on activities, policy discussions, and brainstorming solutions on issues such as digital welfare, data privacy, education, mental health, and data for the Sustainable Development Goals. While it will primarily center on the experiences of youth from Latin America and the Caribbean and Africa, the activity invites young people from around the world to participate and contribute to conversations about the data economy and digital transformation.
