Alana, an organization working to promote and inspire a better-interconnected world for children, has joined the Datasphere Initiative as an in-kind project partner.
“Alana has an incredible track record of promoting education, advocacy, and impact entertainment to create a better world for children in our interconnected society. Our #Youth4OurDataFuture project aligns very well with the work that they are doing and we are sure that their perspectives coming from the Global South will greatly enrich our project’s impact,” said Lorrayne Porciuncula, Executive Director, Datasphere Initiative.
The Datasphere Initiative and the Alana Foundation plan to collaborate to expand the impact of the #Youth4OurDataFuture project. Alana will join the #Youth4Data Advisory Group and advise on engagement mechanisms for youth, on the relevant issues from the data economy that are affecting youth, and leverage the project’s campaign to reach youth from different regions. For over 25 years, Alana has worked to promote educational content for children and create a better world for youth overall, and its contributions to the #Data4Youth Advisory Group will be invaluable to transforming the data economy.
This partnership will foster collaboration between the two organizations as they work to drive new and innovative ways to data governance and ensure youth’s voices are at the core of the discussions on the data economy.
“We are thrilled to join Datasphere’s #Youth4OurDataFuture Project as an in-kind partner. Engaging youth in data governance policy is essential to the construction of a more equitable and rights-respecting digital economy, and we are sure the results of the Project will provide pathways to more youth participation not only in the US but in the Global South as well,” said Maria Mello, Head of Alana’s “Child and Consumerism” Program.
