JAAKLAC, dedicated to research and advocacy for critical digital education and youth participation, especially from Latin America and minority groups, has joined the Datasphere Initiative as an in-kind project partner to support the #Youth4OurDataFuture project.
“We are very glad to have JAAKLAC Initiative join us in this effort to build a more equitable data future by leveraging youth’s voices. Their work with children and youth across Latin America will definitely enrich our views and bring to the table a valuable perspective on how to better engage youth,” mentioned Lorrayne Porciuncula, Executive Director, Datasphere Initiative.
The Datasphere Initiative and JAAKLAC plan to collaborate to expand the impact of the #Youth4OurDataFuture project. JAAKLAC will join the youth project’s advisory group and advise on engagement mechanisms for youth, on the relevant issues from the data economy that are affecting youth, and leverage the project’s campaign to reach youth from different regions. JAAKLAC has been promoting collective action across Latin America, focusing on younger generations, to look towards a fairer digital future for all, and its contributions to the #Youth4Data Advisory Group will be invaluable to transforming the data economy.
This partnership will foster collaboration between the two organizations as they drive new and innovative ways to data governance and ensure youth’s voices are at the core of the discussions on the data economy.
“Our collaboration with the #Youth4OurDataFuture project will focus on engaging with youth from Latin America and the Majority World to materialize fairer futures. We are determined to collectively make sense of the challenges and opportunities of datafied societies, including the values, wants, and needs of underrepresented groups,” said Soledad Magnone, Director, JAAKLAC.
