The Koodos Labs has joined the Datasphere Initiative as an in-kind project partner to support the #Youth4OurDataFuture project. Through new products and research, their work has centered on recentering the Internet on its original promise of personal empowerment.
“Having initiatives that give power back to users and are willing to have important conversations about agency and privacy is an inspiring addition to our project. We are thus very glad to be partnering with Koodos Labs for our #Youth4OurDataFuture project, as they are doing incredible work by creating innovative solutions to put individuals at the center of technology,” said Lorrayne Porciuncula, Executive Director, Datasphere Initiative.
The Koodos Labs team recently launched Shelf, a digital shelf that updates as you watch, read, and listen; and it is also a way for people to reclaim control over their consumption and interest data. The Datasphere Initiative and Koodos Labs plan to collaborate to expand the impact of the #Youth4OurDataFuture project. Through Shelf, they will support the project as an engagement partner and collaborate on elevating the voice of youth from different regions and raising awareness of data rights.
For the last several years, the Koodos labs team has developed open knowledge and accessible tooling to support individuals and help data economy players, including gatekeepers, with the transition to becoming better stewards, and their involvement in the #Youth4OurDataFuture project’s #Youth4Data Advisory Group will be invaluable to transforming the data economy.
This partnership will foster collaboration between the two organizations as they work to drive new and innovative ways to approach data governance and ensure youth’s voices are at the core of the discussions on the data economy.
“We are thrilled to support the Datasphere Initiative and the #Youth4OurDataFuture project. We care deeply about putting individuals in control of their digital identities and look forward to supporting their mission to elevate the voices of young people globally to push the data rights conversation forward,” said Jad Esber, CEO, Koodos Labs.
